Sri Aurobindo used to pace for hours together. This he did in each of the houses he lived in. I remember clearly when we first came to Guest House in 1 921, we saw a long narrow passage in the middle of his rooms – it was at least a quarter of an inch deep and ran from one end of one room to the other end of the other room through the connecting door. The floor, of course, was not made of cement but of chunam. We could guess that the depression must have been made by his walking and that was later confirmed.
